Nicugni (Listen) Informal Showing

On January 29th, 2012 Emily Johnson invited the Tallahassee community to an Informal Showing of her latest draft of Niicugni (Listen).Just over an hour in length, the showing featured layers of movement, sound and visual design (including functional, hand sewn fish skin lanterns). All of Johnson’s collaborators, Aretha Aoki, Heidi Eckwall, James Everest and Bethany Lacktorin, in addition to local gardeners, wind instrumentalists and knitters, were also featured “layers” within the work.

Following the showing, Johnson hosted a feedback session in which she asked audience members to comment on what moments resonated most. Johnson also described her vision for the role of the community
inside the work and some of her sources of inspiration for the visual design elements.
