Work in Development: Arena Collaborators: Robin Brown, Erika Eichelberger, Denisa Musilova, Leah Nelson and Savina Theodorou (dancers) Shemy will continue to develop Arena into a full evening work to premiere at the inaugural Ringling International Arts Festival in Sarasota, Florida, October 8-10 directly after she leaves MANCC. Her work in general seeks to reevaluate the associative relations between content, form and time. In this residency, as she continues to expand Arena, she hopes to further crystallize the relationship between the mechanical movements and emotion - a central motif in her work. Shemy states, “the gap between these two seemingly opposite concepts seem to expand and contract in different situations; I seek to further investigate how to control this gap and then manipulate it.” PAST ENTRYPOINTS
